NORTH versus SOUTH

  AT  THE  NEW  ZEALAND  MINIATURE  HORSE  SHOW

9^th,  10^th  &  11^th  MARCH  2007

To follow on from the 1^st Youth Challenge, which was held at the NZMHA National Show in Christchurch at the end of last season, we are pleased to present our 2^nd New Zealand Youth Challenge.  Full details of the challenge are downloadable here:

This year the Youth Challenge will be judged in three phases, Equitation, Performance and Driving.  A team representing each Island will be selected after the close of applications to compete at the New Zealand Miniature Horse Show in March.

Horses Required

To allow this competition to take place, we require various different types of horses: 

We would like:        Halter Horses for Phase 1 – Equitation

                             Performance Horses for Phase 2 – Obstacle, Jumping, Showmanship

                             Longreining/Driving Horses for Phase 3 – Harness, Longreining

In return for providing your horses we offer you

• Sponsorship – All studs providing horses will be listed as sponsors of The NZMHA Youth Challenge in the Tinytales Magazines.  Your stud will appear as sponsors in the NZ Miniature Horse Show Catalogue under each phase of the Youth Competition.

• Prize Draw - There will also be 4 draws of $50.00 made from the participating horses.

Team Managers

We require a Team Manager for each of the North & South Island Youth Teams.  If you are interested in putting your name forward for either of these positions or would like to know what is involved, please contact Debbie Sloan.

Stop Press

NZMHA has just been asked to provide a Youth Team of 6 members to travel to Australia to compete at the Miniature Horse Association of Australia (MHAA) National Show in April 2007.  If at all possible we will be looking into this invitation (team members would be self funded) very seriously and would use the NZMHA Youth Challenge as a basis of selecting a team to represent NZMHA in Australia.
