The regular members of NZMHA are advised that on September 26 NZMHA Council received a request in writing signed by 11 members and 1 non-member for a Special General Meeting.  This is in accordance with Article 16.1.c.(i) of the New Zealand Miniature Horse Association Inc. Official Rule Book (Constitution and Rules).  A copy of the letter calling for the Special General Meeting is available for downloading here.

This meeting will take place on October 20^th 2007 at Sudima Hotel Christchurch Airport, Corner Memorial Avenue & Orchard Road in Christchurch commencing at 11:00am. 

Business to be Conducted

The only business that can be conducted at the special general meeting is consideration of the “resolutions” specified in the request for the special meeting as received from the members requesting the special general meeting. 

 Eligibility to Vote

As these “resolutions” do not fall under the category of being changes to the Constitution and Rules Article 33 does not apply therefore the Requirements for Notice (21 days) and Requirements as to Approval (postal ballot) do not apply. 

 

Voting will therefore be in accordance with:

·         Voting Rights of Member of Society – Article 19 – Each regular member is entitled to present a deliberative vote at a general meeting either in person or by proxy

·         Right to Vote – Rule 3 which states that each Regular Member has one vote.

Note: Memberships expired on September 30 therefore if you have not renewed your membership and/or aren’t a Regular Member (ie. own an interest in or lease a NZMHA registered horse and are 18 years of age or older) you are not eligible to vote.

5.       Consideration of the “Resolutions” (as specified in the request for the special general meeting)

 The members who have requested this Special General Meeting have spent a significant amount of your money to have these “resolutions” discussed as is their right.  Please take the time to read the Council Comments available for downloading here and exercise your democratic right to vote.
